Project Director
Heifer International Zambia, a branch office of Heifer International, now invites applications from highly motivated, result-oriented, well qualified and experienced professionals to fill the following position for the anticipated US Department of Labor/Increasing Economic and Social Empowerment for Adolescent Girls and Vulnerable Women in Zambia. This four year program is envisioned to target adolescent girls between the ages 15-17 years old who are engaged in, or at high risk of being engaged in, child labor and have increased access to acceptable work and quality training opportunities, including but not limited to, apprenticeships, vocational and technical training, educational services, and/or establishing their own businesses It will also target vulnerable women 18 years and older whose households have children engaged in, or at high risk of engaging in, child labor to have increased livelihood opportunities, including establishing or expanding their own businesses.
Most Critical Proficiencies:
- Experience in establishing and maintaining systems for project operations.
- Ability to maintain working relationships with all project stakeholders, including public, private, and civil society partners and effectively build partnerships among them.
- Experience in a leadership role in implementing projects
- Proven success in facilitating meetings among a wide range of stakeholders, with the significant ability to align numerous sets of interests, identify common goals, develop agreed-upon next steps and deliverables.
- Experience in, and knowledge of, child rights, child labor issues, and Zambian laws and international conventions governing children’s issues is highly recommended.
- Experience in business development, policy development and/or skills training development is preferred.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge in one or more of Zambia’s major languages is recommended.

- Master’s degree in statistics, demographics, public policy, international development, economics, or related
- Minimum of seven years of experience in project management, supervision, administration, and implementation of cooperative agreement and/or contract
